ROOM TO BREATHE
Designing a Cohesive Instagram Series on Burnout and Workplace Well-being.

Background

As a social media post concept focusing on awareness, I chose to explore burnout and emotional well-being at work. The subject felt meaningful to me because workplace culture shapes how people feel, connect with others, and carry themselves beyond the workday. I created three Instagram carousel posts that use typography, imagery, and research to make the topic easier to engage with. I wanted the series to inform people while also giving them room to recognize their own experiences.

Problem Statement

Burnout is a widespread issue, but statistics alone do not always help people connect with what those numbers mean. On Instagram, I also had only a few seconds to earn someone’s attention and a small screen on which to communicate each idea. I challenged myself to turn research into a series that felt clear and credible without losing the human side of the subject. Each slide needed to make sense on its own and lead naturally into the next.

Process

I began by researching burnout and workplace well-being, then selected findings that could help me tell a clear story across three five-slide carousels. I organized the information into short statements and considered what I wanted someone to take away from each post.

I wanted the posts to feel cohesive, even if someone encountered only one of them in their feed. I developed a consistent approach to typography, color, imagery, and graphic elements to make the series recognizable. Within that system, I varied the layouts and color palettes so each post could have its own focus and visual rhythm.

I planned each carousel as a sequence, considering what would draw someone into the first slide and how the message would unfold with each swipe. Because people would view the posts on a phone, i used type size, weight, spacing, and contrast to guide attention. I gave key statistics room to stand out and kept supporting text concise so each slide was easy to read.

Results

I created a 15-slide Instagram series organized around three ideas: Recognize, Understand, and Act. Each five-slide carousel stands on its own, while together they guide readers from identifying burnout to thinking about workplace well-being more broadly and considering what they can do next.

The finished concept brings research into a format that feels clear, approachable, and connected. This project strengthened my ability to shape information into a visual narrative, design for a small screen, and maintain a consistent identity across multiple pieces of content.
